| Info: | Born in Queens, Chris Decaterina has always had a passion for music. Being the son of an entertainer, it has always been a part of Chris' life. He began his career at the age of 14 working local house parties. A fresh and rising presence in the music industry, DJ and producer Chris Decaterina(aka DJ Moody) turns mixing music into a high energy artform and creates an experience of ferocity and intensity that soars the soul and defines the moment.
Moody was given a set of turntables by his father on his 14th birthday. This fueled his dreams of becoming a DJ. He began working at parties and local clubs, creating a reputation for himself as a talented and dynamic artist. He started gaining recognition early in his career, mixing at some of New Yorks' most well respected clubs, includung Limelight, Tunnel and Exit. During this time Moody also began working with Dj Skribble. Putting together the hottest Saturday night dance party on 103.5 KTU, Moody was responsible for booking global dj's such as Todd Terry, Pete Tong, and Jellybean Benitez. While working for KTU, Chris began producing with friend and fellow DJ Adam Ruiz (DJ Mada). Together they created club anthems such as "Blackout", which was featured on Louie Devito's NYC Underground Volume 3. This CD sold nearly a million copies.
Currently the resident DJ at New York's longest running niteclub Webster Hall, Moody is taking his musical vision to another level with Sneakymood Records. At a time when the New York City house music scene has lost its glamour and most of it dance labels, Moody teamed up with Tim Rex to launch a label presenting the finest in house music, that has long been in the works. "The idea of starting a record label has always been on my mind." Moody states. "It was just a matter of time. The music industry has been down for a while now, but opportunities exist. With Sneakymood we intend to develop a niche for people who love house music. It sounds a bit cliche but not many labels have been able to meet those expectations."
Though no easy task, with the Union of producers and Dj's he has surrounded himself with, Moody seems just the man for the job. |
